Marketing adventure at St. Lawrence College

Me no speak English-!
To introduce myself first, my name is Areum Jeon, I’m an international student from South Korea. It has been 3 years since I first came to Canada. I went to high school from grade 11 in Liverpool, Nova Scotia and I luckily found St. Lawrence College afterwards.
When I was in grade 12, I never knew what I wanted to study in the future. However, I was hoping to help my dad’s Italian espresso machine importing business at the same time. This was one of my primary reasons why I chose Business Administration-Marketing. I love marketing even if people tell me it is such a broad field, which means I have a broad choice of experiences open to me. I am very sociable and service-oriented—that are crucial strengths for marketers.
Fortunately, I got my placement at the Royal Bank of Canada. It was a long and tough process to gain my placement, but I guess it was worth it. This is because RBC is recognized as one of Canada’s top 100 employers. It may sound very random for marketers at the bank, and I thought it was too. My stereotype towards banking industry totally changed after my personal interview, with the fact that not everyone needs an accounting degree as I thought. “Not everyone is an accountant at bank. It is all about customer relationships.” said Lynn Crowe.
Five years from now, I am seeing myself in two ways. One is working at the bank as a marketer and another one is studying further. The reason for studying further is because I want to learn about marketing in-depth. I will be happy to finish my bachelor degree of business administration and hopefully a master’s degree in the future.
